I’m in Singapore now, and after LKY’s passing, the country seems like it needs a source of inspiration besides wealth. Of course no one can possibly compare to LKY, so the question for Singapore is “Why?” Why do we exist when HK and Taiwan are similar? If the answer is only a port and one international summit, then the old adage about wealth disappearing in three generations may apply.
