Rarely does an author destroy his reputation so thoroughly in one piece. The reason discerning readers disdain Breitbart and other right-wing websites is because they disseminate information that is true but lacking context or they compare apples and oranges (e.g., one recent article compared total number of immigrants in America to a single year’s native-born births).

When Thompson argues x billion in subsidies would have paid for y salary increases, he somehow forgets a 50% tax rate on 0 new jobs is… 0. Individual taxpayers are already tapped out with higher sales taxes and escalating costs for essential items but Thompson continues to belabor the lie that more tax dollars to an existing interest group like teachers’ unions automatically improves service or outcomes. Incredibly, Thompson throws himself and progressive liberal political groups into the very pit where conservatives have a distinct advantage: “tax and spend with no accountability.” Recent history proves well-meaning liberals often fail to do adequate due diligence and, in doing so, pave the way for the conservatives to gain credibility — and power.
